The Houston West Chamber of Commerce selected structural engineering firm Haynes Whaley Associates as the Star Award winner in the Existing Business category, 51-150 employees. Haynes Whaley Principal Wally Ford, P.E. accepted the award last week at the chamber’s annual economic development summit. More than 200 companies were nominated for the award, given in eight categories.
The Houston West Chamber of Commerce reviewed all nominations and selected 68 companies as finalists. A panel of judges from various industries and the public sector evaluated the finalists based on revenue and employee growth, community involvement, and industry recognition. In 2011, Haynes Whaley increased revenues an impressive 48%. The firm donated over $200,000 and 1200 employee hours to charitable and community organizations. Haynes Whaley earned seven national and local building industry awards in 2011.
“West Houston is a great place to do business and it’s also a great place to call home, for our office and many of our employees,” said Larry Whaley, Haynes Whaley Associates President & CEO. “We’ve been honored to be a part of such major projects as BMC Software Campus, City Centre and the Memorial City Campus. Haynes Whaley is fortunate to be located in such a progressive and caring community, and the Star Award is a humbling recognition of the great work our staff has done in and out of the office.”
